rgz music

Over the years, we've featured a lot of music here at readergirlz via the monthly playlists put together by featured authors.

We've also used special songs for special events, and we are very grateful for these rockin' musicians who have donated their music for rgz use.

Lindsay Rush

The first musical artist we featured was Lindsay Rush. Her song Gepetto Cut the Strings was featured on our MySpace page during the month of May 2007, when it served as the theme song for that month's featured book, The Phoenix Dance by Dia Calhoun.

Universal Hall Pass

In 1963, Johnny Cash recorded the song Ring of Fire. Four decades later, Universal Hall Pass took the well-known country tune and gave it a Middle Eastern flair and female vocals. Their version was released on a soundtrack for a short film of the same name. In October 2008, they gave us permission to use the song in our Teen Read Week trailer. In March 2009, five months after we used the song, Adam Lambert sang it on American Idol and used the Universal Hall Pass arrangement.

Andrea Wittgens

Andrea Wittgens donated her song Marching Orders to our trailer for Operation Teen Book Drop (TBD) 2009. The song is available on her album entitled In the Skyline.

Freezepop

When we needed a theme song for our Teen Read Week festivities in October 2009, we turned to the band Freezepop. Their song Frontload is, dare we say, "the awesomeness" that they refer to in the lyrics. This song appears on their album entitled future future future perfect.
